Reflecting on 2017
I really enjoyed sharing my first holiday gift guide series with you all, but I’m super excited to shift the focus to finishing out the year and preparing for 2018; sharing my goals, plans, and intentions for the new year.
I’ve found that reflection is an important part of growth in life; both personal and professional. A lot of times we forget all the amazing things that have happened and what we’ve accomplished in a year. I tend to have high expectations for myself and am usually my own worst critic! And while I’m always trying to challenge myself, I also need to celebrate the successes and look back at my accomplishments and opportunities with pride and happiness.
This year was full of highs and lows. I launched my blog in July and constantly felt pressured; mainly because I was so critical of myself. Getting started was very challenging for me; I doubted myself, my content, and my creativity. Constantly questioning myself, if I was good enough or creative enough to embark on this path. I let my thoughts get the better of me. But after a few months, my mind finally cleared, and I felt a burst of inspiration. It’s true what they say; what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. I realized that “if you fall, you get back up. That’s what life is all about.” These challenges made me realize I needed to shift my focus back to why I originally started my blog, why it means so much to me. So, in 2018, I plan to embrace change as it comes, be more accepting of myself and be confident in my work.
As we approach a new year, we tend to feel unsure of what the future holds, but you have two choices; learn to embrace the unknown or stick to your ‘norm’ and always be asking yourself “what if?” In 2018, I want to embrace the unknown and step outside of my comfort zone. I want to focus on things that bring happiness and purpose into my life. To let life take its own course, to stop worrying and just live. I plan to stop caring so much; aka give zero fucks! I can’t worry about what other people think about me; what’s important is what I think about myself, what I want, not what other people think. 2018 IMMA DO ME!
We only get one life and it’s too short not to best our best selves and live our best lives. A new year is a time to invest in yourself, your goals, your dreams and your life.
2018, I’m ready for ya!
